After another video (this one showing the ways people use iPads), Phil Schiller is back on stage to introduce the next generation of iPads.
Three years ago, Apple introduced the first iPad. This year, the device is much thinner, lighter and more powerful. And it has a new name — the iPad Air.
The device features Retina display. It’s 43 percent smaller than the previous version and, at 7.5 millimeters, 20 percent thinner than the previous version. It weighs in at one pound, down from 1.4 pounds.
The newest iPad will feature the A7 chip, which is eight times faster than the one in the first iPad, and offers 72 times faster graphics performance — ideal for playing video games and opening large files. The Wi-Fi will be twice as fast as before.
The iPad Air will start at $499.
