Fiona Apple Heckled, Fights Back at Tour Opener - Billboard

Fiona Apple had a bit of a tough time during the start of her new tour in Portland Thursday night (Oct. 3), which devolved into a flurry of expletives and heckling at one point of the show and left the alt-rocker visibly frustrated.

According to The Oregonian , Apple's set at Portland's Newmark Theatre turned testy when, with two songs left in the show, a woman called out, "Get healthy, we want to see you in 10 years!"

Distraught, Apple turned from the piano. "I am healthy," she reportedly said, standing up from her instrument. A swarm of expletives directed at the heckler followed, prompting the house lights to be turned on. Another heckler shouted that she was a "has-been," though The Oregonian reported that others were far more supportive of the '90s star.

Eventually, the initial heckler was forced to leave and Apple returned to her music, eventually calling the evening "a historically stupid night."

According to the live review, Apple also called TMZ "turd-munching zombies," lashing out at its reports of her drug arrest last year and her subsequent attempts to explain the bust at her live shows.

Apple's tour, which runs through October, is a collaboration with California songwriter/guitarist Blake Mills.
