Apple is in the final stages of designing a 12-inch iPad as big as a dinner plate, it has been claimed.
A Japanese magazine called MacOtakara has published blueprints for a device it called the "iPad Air Plus", which will be a bigger version of the world's most famous fondleslab.
It will feature a 12.2-inch display and an A9 processor - a beefed-up version of the A8X processor used in the iPad Air 2.
The magazine first mentioned such a device a month ago, although El Reg's hardened rumour wranglers weren't entirely convinced by its "reliable sources".
Other fruity fortune tellers have previously suggested Apple is working on a larger "iPad Pro". The Wall Street Journal claimed it could arrive as early as next year, although production has been postponed to satisfy demand for the latest model of iPhone.
Apple assemblers were supposed to begin building the new device this month, the WSJ suggested, but building the iPhone 6 Plus is currently its priority.
Just to clarify, the average serving plate is around 10 inches in diameter, give or take an inch. Unless you were eating a circular dish like a pie or pizza, the new iPad would be more than big enough to hold a square (or maybe rectangular) meal.
So what would you serve on top of a supersized fondleslab? What reliable sauces would you use? ®
